New hire onboarding pack

Generate a role-specific 30-day onboarding plan for a new member of staff or volunteer — mission-first, not just admin.

30-45 minutes
A day-by-day 30-day plan: mandatory training, people to meet, first small win, and check-in points.

When to use this project

Use this before a new staff member or long-term volunteer starts — ideally a week ahead, so their first month is planned, not improvised.

How to use AI in this project

AI drafts a mission-anchored first day, a Week 1 essentials plan, a manageable Weeks 2–3 first win, and a Day 30 check-in. You add the association-specific details — key colleagues, systems, safeguarding induction dates — and the model shapes them into a warm, human plan rather than a checklist wall.

AI tips for this project

  • Ground Day 1 in the mission — not IT setup. The model needs to know your mission statement.
  • The Week 2-3 "first win" should be small enough to complete and visible enough to matter.
  • Include safeguarding induction and DBS/PVG timelines explicitly.
  • The Day 30 check-in is a conversation guide, not a performance review.

The 4 steps

  1. 01

    Mission-first day one

Their first day should feel like joining a movement, not a shift.

How to use AI here · Provide your mission statement, the person's role, and 2–3 mission moments (real stories). Ask AI for a warm Day 1 that mixes welcomes, mission grounding, and 1–2 easy admin items — not an IT setup marathon.
    • Safeguarding briefing is scheduled, not skipped
    • It feels human, not corporate
  2. 02

    Week 1: essentials

Enough to be safe and useful.

How to use AI here · Give AI the essentials: safeguarding induction, key policies to read, systems logins, first 1:1s. Ask for a Week 1 schedule with time blocks and a named human next to each item.
    • Mandatory training has real dates
    • The observation is genuine, not tokenistic
  3. 03

Weeks 2-3: a first small win

A shipped small thing beats a memorised handbook.

How to use AI here · Describe a small, achievable first task tied to a real deliverable — something they can complete and be recognised for. Ask AI to structure it as brief, support available, and definition of done.
    • The task is genuinely useful, not busywork
    • Support is named, not assumed
  4. 04

    Day 30 check-in

    Two-way honesty.

How to use AI here · Ask AI to draft a Day 30 check-in agenda: what's clear, what's not, what support is needed, what the new hire has noticed about how we could improve. Keep it a conversation, not a form.
    • Wellbeing and belonging are explicitly checked
    • There is space to raise concerns safely
