Youth-led campaign

Design a small campaign with young people, not for them: insight session, messaging, channel plan, measurement.

3–5 hours
A campaign one-pager co-owned by young people and staff, with a launch date and success measures.

When to use this project

Use this when young people at your association want to run a campaign — on climate, mental health, cost of living, safety — and need a structure that puts their voice at the centre.

How to use AI in this project

AI supports the young people's work — an insight session guide to gather their views properly, message drafting in their voice (not a corporate one), a channel plan they can actually run, and a light measurement approach. AI never replaces the young people's own words on the final assets.

AI tips for this project

  • Facilitate the insight session with real young people — don't skip to the AI drafting.
  • Message drafts must be reviewed and rewritten by the young people themselves.
  • Channels should match where young people actually spend time, not organisational preferences.
  • Measurement should include how it felt for the young people, not just reach.

The 4 steps

  1. 01

    Insight session guide

Design a 45-minute session to surface what young people actually want to say.

How to use AI here · Describe the young people's group and the issue they care about. Ask AI for a 60-minute insight session guide — 4–5 open questions, a warm-up, and a way to capture views (words, drawings, votes).
    • Reviewed by someone who has facilitated with this age group
    • A quiet-participant plan is included
  2. 02

    Messaging

Turn insight into 3 message options.

How to use AI here · Paste what the young people said in the session (their words). Ask AI to draft messages in their voice — not a corporate voice — and hand them back to the group to rewrite.
    • Test all 3 with 2 young people not in the original session
    • Drop any option that flattens the message
  3. 03

    Channel plan

    Right channel, right rhythm.

How to use AI here · Ask AI for a channel plan that only uses channels the young people already use, with a first week schedule, roles for the young people, and a "when to stop" rule.
    • Every channel has a named human
    • Content plan respects safer-social guidance
  4. 04

    Measurement

What does success actually look like?

How to use AI here · Ask AI for 3 measurement lenses: reach (numbers), depth (comments, conversations), and how the young people felt running it. Nothing more complicated than they can collect themselves.
    • A young co-designer has agreed the success measures
    • Review date is in a diary
